About Our Team

Matt Riley’s journey into the excavating and trucking industry is deeply connected to his family’s roots in Lanesville, Indiana. Growing up surrounded by a strong work ethic and a dedication to helping others, Matt started early—mowing lawns at age 11 and turning that into a small community business by 14.

After graduating from Floyd Central High School and earning an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Ivy Tech Community College, Matt gained valuable hands-on experience in the field. By the age of 23, Matt expanded Riley’s Lawncare & Excavating to include a single mini excavator and a drive to build something lasting.

Today, Riley’s has grown to include thriving Lawncare, Excavating, and Trucking divisions, with over 80 full-time employees. At its core, this business is a family—one built on trust, respect, and teamwork. Matt emphasizes that the company’s success isn’t about one person; it’s about the skilled, hardworking people who make up the Riley’s team.

Riley’s isn’t just focused on delivering high-quality services—they’re committed to giving back. From supporting local events to volunteering time and resources for community projects, the company takes pride in being a neighbor you can count on in Southern Indiana.

The Riley legacy spans generations, rooted in the land of Riley Ridge Road, where the family has lived and worked since 1836. While the farm’s history is a source of pride, the team’s focus is on building for the future—whether that’s improving their craft, helping their community, or mentoring the next generation in the values that define Riley’s: hard work, dedication, and care.
